The Dene are a diverse First Nations people and form part of the Athapaskan language group, one of the largest First Nations groups in North America. Dene Elders, community leaders and youth from over 19 communities across northwestern Canada and southwestern United States, speak about their shared history, culture, spiritual guidance, drumming, language, oral traditions, and relationship with the land.

Important issues such as the impact of colonialism, residential schools, the Canadian Government's recent apology, a redefining of ownership of natural resources, and language and scientificrevitalization are discussed.

The video ends by showcasing visual artist Alex Janvier, musical artists Jerry Alfred and Leela Gilday, as well as cultural leaders and traditional celebrations. Dene communities and a new generation of youth are finding pride and inspiration through their cultural roots. A renewed strength and vibrancy of the Dene spirit is rippling across the land and awaking the people to their personal and collective potential.
